Philosophy

I believe that yoga can benefit everyone. You don’t have to be flexible; you don’t have to be young; you don’t have to enjoy exercise. If you allow yoga to meet you wherever you are in your life’s journey, wherever you are in relationship to your body, then I believe your life will start to transform for the better. A regular yoga practice might bring you more range of motion or less physical tension and discomfort. It might give you more sustained energy, or it might allow you to reach deeper levels of relaxation and healing. My hope is that all of us can enjoy living in our bodies, and I believe the tools of yoga and self-massage help make that hope a reality.

My goal is to empower you to heal your own aches and pains, tension, and stress. I believe that when we possess the tools to nurture ourselves and relieve discomfort, an inner strength blossoms that allows us to live a more harmonious, productive and happy life.

My work is rooted in the belief that all life on this planet is sacred and interconnected. I honor the cycles of the earth and of human life, and I want to bring ease and relaxation to our bodies and minds. I use the tools of yoga, self-massage, and guided meditation: techniques that are informed by the wisdom of ancient traditions, and are given new depth by modern science. I fully embrace an evidence-based approach to health; there is so much fascinating research about our physical structure, how our bodies move, and how our thoughts influence our wellbeing. My teaching and practice are a melding of these two elements: ancient yogic wisdom and contemporary movement/mindfulness research.
